The Peninsula Gallery is once again welcoming artists from the prestigious Washington Society of Landscape Painters for a juried exhibition on display from Saturday August 6th to Sunday August 28th.
A reception will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on August 6, in the presence of certain artists.
The jury’s works include both oil paintings and watercolors depicting a variety of landscapes, from street scenes to ocean waves, floral arrangements and boat trips. Some of the works are presented with traditional techniques or were painted en plein air, while others take a more modernist or impressionist approach. The show also includes abstract pieces for those with a more contemporary eye. With such a diversity of images, this exhibition has something for everyone.
At 109 years old, the Washington Society of Landscape Painters is one of the oldest landscape painting groups in the United States, dating back to 1913. The society’s primary focus today is painting outdoors, in outdoors, with other members and guests. artists, enjoying their camaraderie and constructively critiquing each other’s work. In addition to these paintings, the society also promotes the advancement of landscape painting through meetings, exhibitions and field trips. As in 1913, on-site painting continues to be the base on which its activities are based.

Dellario, David Diaz, Gray Dodson, Christine Drewyer, Lisa Egeli, Lynn Goldstein, Pattee Hipschen, Harry L. Jaecks, Barry D. Lindley, Lynn Mehta, Crystal Moll, JoEllen Murphy, Barbara Nuss, Bill Schmidt, Jean Schwartz, Lida Stifel, Nancy Tankersley, Robert Thoren and Meg Nottingham Walsh.
