Our relationship to music has changed in recent years. While only a few years ago we were buying physical copies of albums, digital streaming has arrived and completely changed the landscape. Now that’s about to change again with Pixelynx. This new venture is essentially a music metaverse where the lines between music, games, and even blockchain are blurred. Now, this unique gaming platform lets fans explore virtual worlds on both desktop and phone, discovering curated content from their favorite artists.
The company was founded by musicians, so Deadmau5 and Richie Hawtin. So we have a very interesting perspective on building a platform, which comes first and foremost from an artistic perspective, and something that was designed for the music industry. We work closely with the Niantic team. who built Pokémon Go, so we’re launching our mobile app. The music industry has struggled with monetization for a number of years. The current streaming paradigm does not necessarily work for all artists. So there’s a big opportunity and I think there’s a need to try to find different ways for artists to monetize and build a career. And that’s one of the things we’re really focused on, trying to find new, interesting business models and ways for fans and artists to enjoy music.
But long term, our vision is really to help bring this ecosystem of products and platforms around music into the metaverse. So we’re building a pretty big ecosystem of creators of different products, from different companies, and connecting the dots to reinvent the way music is consumed and monetized.
