Kody Brown’s Transformation Makes Headlines – Landscape Insight

“Toddlers and Tiaras,” “Say Yes to the Dress,” and “19 Kids and Counting” come to mind when we think of TLC’s most iconic shows. The Browns, a polygamous family led by patriarch Kody Brown, wouldn’t have such a stronghold on the network if they were ordinary families turned reality stars.

“Sister Wives” has provided viewers with considerable insight into polygamous life and the issues that could arise when more than one marriage is on the table, if you can believe it. To say the show was eye-opening, shocking and unexpected is an understatement.

Viewers who have regularly tuned into “Sister Wives” have seen Kody and her family, of course, grow and develop over time. But, before he and his four wives hit the big screen, what was Kody’s life like and how has he coped since? Look how he has changed.

The act of opening

Kody Brown had the same style throughout the early years of Sister Wives on TLC. He started the show as a fit 41-year-old man, often dressed in long-sleeved shirts and casual pants. The straighter strawberry blonde hair, dark goatee and pale eyebrows are all noticeable differences.

Kody wore this style until the end of Season 5, when he began to adapt to the times and the rotation of fashion trends, as a young man preparing to grow his offspring and take on a more paternal role. His attire doesn’t change much over time, but his hair and beard do.

Longer hair and sideburns

Kody started growing gray sideburns to go with considerably longer, slicked-back hair around the middle of Season 7 of the highly anticipated TLC reality show. The days of living with four wives and twenty children began to wear him down at age 45. His days of straight red hair and a much darker beard are long behind him. He prefers to wear his hair in a wavy and tousled fashion.

Anyone can speculate if Kody’s windswept appearance is the result of the Browns’ road trip along Route 66 during the episode, but it signals an early stage of his physical transformation on the show. The physical change also symbolizes the upheaval in Kody’s life during season 7, when the Browns met a polygamous Mormon family in Missouri and a polygamous Christian family in the same week.

Kody Brown was raised in a polygamous family

Kody Brown's Metamorphosis

You’re certainly not alone if you’ve ever watched “Sister Wives” and wondered how anyone could end up in a plural marriage. Polygamy is an extremely rare and unusual phenomenon. So how did Kody Brown end up here?

In 1969 Kody was born in the state of Wyoming. William Brown, Kody’s father, was a Mormon polygamist who had several wives, one of whom was Kody’s mother. Kody’s father maintained his plural marriage and raised multiple families on his ranch in Lovell, Wyoming, while struggling with his religion.

Kody is well known for having had four marriages and a multitude of children from each, but his own background provided a contrast. His father produced ten children with his three wives, and he and Kody’s mother, Janelle Brown, had a significant influence on “Sister Wives” and Kody’s own life.

Kody Brown’s family continued to grow in the early 2000s

Meri, Janelle and Christine, the three wives of Kody Brown, spent the latter half of the 1990s building their relationships and marriages. And, as the mother song goes, “If you’re not careful, you’ll get hurt” Love comes first. Marriage follows. Then, in the stroller, comes the baby” – and the Browns stuck to the plan like glue. According to Hollywood Life, Kody has 18 children from his three wives, outnumbering “cheaper by the dozen” by a factor of three.

Here’s how it works: Maria is Kody and Meri’s only child. Logan, Hunter, Gabriel and Robert are Kody and Janelle’s four sons, and Savannah and Maddie are their two daughters. The Brown family grew to include son Paedon and daughters Gwendolyn, Truly, Aspyn, Ysabel and Mykelti, all born to Christine and fathered by Kody. That’s 13 kids so far if you keep track.

Meri and Kody are still together, but their relationship has deteriorated

Kody Brown's Metamorphosis

Meri Brown’s relationship with Kody Brown had deteriorated significantly since the catfishing scandal. In the years since, the once legally married couple’s relationship has deteriorated significantly, and the two clarified their relationship status in the season 16 reunion episode of “Sister Wives.”

Kody said, “I will never be in a marital relationship with Meri because I will never experience that emotional pain again.” “I’m not trying to make Meri look horrible; it’s just that we’re not a good match. Kody added that there was simply too much “damage” between him and Meri and that they had “no real security”. When asked for more information, he even went so far as to state that he simply wouldn’t go there, implying that he was in excruciating pain.

Christine expressed her heartbreak in the reunion episode when asked about her previous wives’ reactions to Meri and Kody’s dynamic: “I don’t want to be married to someone who’s not in love with me. I don’t know how she manages to do everything she does. She seems to be okay with that more than me.
