The National Trust’s Old Needles Battery will be featured on Channel 5 on Friday when naturalist Kate Humble’s series of coastal walks hit our TV screens from 8pm.
This week’s ‘Kate Humble’s Coastal Britain’ sees Kate taking a wintry walk around the western corner of the Isle of Wight, where she spent her holidays as a girl.
The trip begins with a boat trip to the Needles
Beginning on Yarmouth’s wooden pier, her journey begins with a boat trip to the Needles, which her Victorian guidebook recommends as the best way to see these impressive chalk piles, then continues her stroll with a visit to the Needles Old Battery. and the Needles Promontory. .
